Music Business and Arts Administration

Nikko has a deep interest in merging the dynamic of self-produced artists and with their own creative and monetary success. Her experience as a minority in her field has driven her to establish an uplifting community for marginalized composers working in music technology through her passion for research, representation, and accessibility within the music industry.

In Spring 2023, Nikko interned with Boulanger Initiative, a non-profit arts organization based in Takoma Park, MD whose mission advocates for women and all gender-marginalized composers through performance, education, research, consulting, and commissions. She worked specifically in the market research and strategic development of their newest initiative, Redefining the Canon, which aims to update the most widely used orchestral audition excerpts to include excerpts by historically underrepresented composers.

She earned a minor in Business of Music and certification for L.E.A.D. (Lead, Engage, Aspire, Deliver), a student leadership training that assists executive board members/officers of clubs or organizations to develop the skills necessary to create a positive impact at Peabody and beyond. She is the recipient of a Peabody Launch Grant, awarded towards the development of a creative service design platform for local artists to connect with local venues in Baltimore. Nikko was nominated for the University Experiential Learning Outstanding Achiever Award, presented each year to an outstanding student employee in recognition of their exceptional reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism, and uniqueness of contribution within Johns Hopkins University student employment.
